Summary

This article is about the dangerous situation with Iran’s nuclear program. The 2015 nuclear deal ended last month, and strict sanctions on Iran are back. Talks between Iran and the U.S. are not happening. No one knows what happened to Iran’s highly enriched uranium. Iran says it is “buried under rubble,” but Israel thinks it was “moved to a safe place.” Iran also won’t let inspectors go to a new site called Pickaxe Mountain.

Who: Iran, Israel, the U.S., and experts are involved.
What: The story is about Iran’s nuclear program and the risk of a new war.
Where: The events are happening in Iran and Israel, and nearby countries are affected.
When: This is happening now, after the 2015 deal ended last month.
Why: There are no talks or inspections, and Israel sees Iran as a threat.

Experts warn that a new war could happen. H.A. Hellyer said, “Israel wants to ensure that Iran’s nuclear program is contained… I suspect the Israelis intend to strike again.” Ali Vaez said that if there is another war, Iran “hopes to fire 2,000 missiles at once to overwhelm Israeli defenses, not 500 over 12 days” like before.

 My thoughts

I think this situation is extremely risky because both sides seem convinced that the other is preparing for war. The article mentions that Iran could launch “2,000 missiles at once” if it is attacked again, which shows how quickly this conflict could grow out of control. I also found it interesting that some experts argue Iran is weaker than before but still dangerous enough to create instability through its allies in the region. To me, the real problem is the lack of communication. With no negotiations and no inspections, everyone is acting on fear and assumptions. This kind of miscommunication and misunderstanding that could cause between two countries only push up the high risk of the war happening . I believe both Iran and Israel, with help from the U.S. and Arab countries, need to return to talks before the situation crosses a line that can’t be reversed. Because if they don't talk and negotiate properly it would cause another terrible nightmare like couple of months before how they started a war and they harm more people.
